Riverside Beat Priority Update |
||
Good afternoon all,
Please see the following updates from the Riverside beat team in relation to this quarters priorities:
Safer Streets Summer National Campaign: This month, the Riverside Beat Team continued to prioritise tackling street crime across the area. Officers carried out targeted patrols in hotspot locations known for high levels of crime and anti-social behaviour, helping to disrupt offending and reassure the community.
The team also investigated several individuals linked to serious violence who were residing within the beat. As a result of these enquiries, we worked in partnership with the local council to secure a Closure Order on a property associated with criminal activity. This order prohibits anyone from entering the address for a period of three months, helping to reduce harm and improve safety in the area.
In addition to enforcement activity, the team held regular community engagement events, providing opportunities for residents to share their concerns and help shape local policing priorities. These sessions included Neighbourhood Link sign-ups and the completion of community surveys, ensuring we remain connected to the issues that matter most to our residents.
Theft of Motor Vehicles: Throughout this month, there have been several reports of motor vehicle thefts, including a motorbike stolen from the LRI. However, the more prominent issue has been the rise in thefts from motor vehicles.
To address this, PC Fiona collated all relevant data—times, dates, and locations—to identify patterns and allocate tasks across the team. This proactive approach proved successful, leading to the arrest of two individuals caught in the act of breaking into a car on Lower Brown Street. Both were charged and remanded for multiple offences.
The beat team has also focused efforts on patrolling public car parks and conducting further community engagement events to offer crime prevention advice. They remain committed to supporting investigations by securing evidence at the earliest opportunity.
Anti-social behaviour: Over the past month, the team has focused attention on Pavilion Close following reports of anti-social behaviour, including drug use and individuals loitering in vehicles. In response, officers have been working closely with the housing association to explore preventative measures and implement restrictions at the location to deter further incidents.
Additionally, officers have held multi-agency meetings with housing providers and the local council regarding a problem address on Rydal Street. These collaborative meetings ensure a joined-up approach to tackling persistent issues and achieving the best possible outcomes for the community.
Finally, the team has been engaging with local schools to address concerns involving parents. This included gathering evidence for a public order offence, interviewing the suspect, and issuing a Conditional Caution which prohibits the individual from accessing the playground. This outcome supports the school, protects other families, and ensures a safer environment for children.
As always, if you have any issues, please don't hesitate to get in touch!
